The Spy Pace started in a spare office in a building owned by its founder. He thought that he was starting a gadget shop; someplace for people to come and buy a nanny cam, computer tracking software or other do it yourself surveillance equipment for business loss control.
During the first week that the store was opened, a water treatment operator walked in wanting a complete surveillance system, including viewing night vision cameras with remote viewing, "off site viewing capabilities", Cameras with ptz "directional moving capabilities, as well as limited access card readers, and some elementary biometrics, well that was bigger than us, he was asking for services that were out of the scope of a "gadget shop", and more in tune with a full-service security provider, We couldn't help him. We were a gadget shop.
The second week another customer walked in and asked "is this a franchise"? "Nope" we said, "we're just a store." "Well you should be, you have a great name," was his reply. He too went on the request services that were out of scope for our little gadget shop and more in tune with a full-service security provider.
When similar requests were made again and again, we determined that The Spy Place had more to offer thank just gadgets and we expanded our business model to include our high profile "James Bond Type retail store which displays and provides the latest in High Tech Covert Spy Gear, serving homeowners, business owners, and law enforcement.
We then expanded our business model to offer the custom design and installation of Video Surveillance Systems, allowing for 24 hour real time viewing from any internet connected computer in the world, and all the while providing a real time video record of the events that had taken place in the owners absents. Limited access control systems, biometrics, and lighting control installations were added as well as the installation of Vehicle GPS tracking systems. Soon, we became the "One Stop" solution for our customers security and surveillance needs.
Next, after four additional years of experiencing the excitement and energy created by The Spy Place name, trade-mark, and our unique business model, we decided to franchise The Spy place. Our goal it to allow entrepreneurs the opportunity to maximize their revenue stream through our unique diversity of services offered all from within our one business name and one business umbrella.
The Spy Place launched its franchise system at the International Security Conference West on April 1, 2009 and is excited about this new direction and the ability to help entrepreneurs in the security and surveillance industry grow their business and revenue streams.
